Join us at Corner Lodge, Jaywick, for a Day at the Races!

Published on

Friday 11th October is a date for your diary as we invite you to join us at Corner Lodge care home in Jaywick for a flutter on the horses and a fun afternoon.

Milli Simalova, the manager, and her team are organising a Day at the Races as part of ‘Silver Sunday’ which is a national celebration of older people and the value and knowledge they contribute to our communities. In Essex we’re spreading the enjoyment throughout October so take a look at what’s planned elsewhere too.

Milli explains:

We believe that everyone has something to share and just because a person can no longer live independently that doesn’t mean that they’re not part of their local community. Corner Lodge is a warm and friendly specialist dementia care home for older people and we strive to provide the highest quality of care which includes links with our neighbours in the area. We work hard to ensure that our residents feel connected with their wider community and it’s satisfying to see the joy it brings. So come and pay us a visit – you’ll be sure of a warm welcome!

The fun starts at 2pm and we’ll be playing with chips to bet on our favourites so don’t worry about any damage to your bank account. There’ll be prizes presented to the top three winners at 4pm and despite the excitement we’ll pause for refreshments halfway through to keep ourselves going.

We just know you’ll have a good time if you pop in. Come and meet our residents and their families and join in the fun. Don’t be shy; we’re looking forward to meeting you!

The address for Corner Lodge is 185 – 193 Meadow Way, Jaywick Sands, Clacton on Sea, Essex, CO15 2HP and there is parking. You can find out more about Corner Lodge on the website.

Visit Silver Sunday to learn more about the free activities on offer and to read the celebrity endorsements by stars such as Cliff Richard, Joanna Lumley and Sir Terry Wogan.

The My Home Life Essex Community Association is supporting Corner Lodge so we’ll see you there and we look forward to telling you more about what we do to support older people living in residential care homes or thinking about moving into one.
