Free independent advice for older people thinking about moving into a residential care home

Published on

We provide free independent advice for older people, and their families and carers, who are thinking about a move into residential care.

At such times there is a lot to consider both in practical and emotional terms and we’re here to help you to get all the information that you need.

We work in partnership with Independent Age which is a long established charity with a 150 year history of supporting older people. For the cost of a phone call you can speak to an expert in confidence about the issues around a move into residential care from finding a suitable home to the funding options. The aim is to help you to come to a decision that’s right for you and meets your requirements.

Beyond that, if you would like ongoing support through the process then we will be happy to assist as we understand the challenge of making a major lifestyle change. We can advise you on how to manage the move and how to ensure that settling into your new home goes as smoothly as possible.

Here’s what one caller to our advice line had to say: “I wasn’t sure where to turn to for advice and was relieved to be able to speak openly to an expert about the things that were worrying me. The information I was given has helped no end.”

If you live in Essex and would like to seek advice for yourself, or on behalf of a relative or friend, please call 0845 017 7720.

To discuss ongoing local support you can contact our Development Officer Debbie Tanner, or call her on 0845 017 1095.
