Care Home Commonwealth Games 2022

Care home residents from across the county came together to enjoy a fun filled day of events, dance, cycling and ice cream!

What an amazing day!

On Tuesday July 26th, we proudly hosted the 1st ever Commonwealth Games for Care Homes at Colchester Sports Park, along with our colleagues at Enjoy Colchester, Sport For Confidence, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, Colchester United FC and Colchester Wheels for All.

Eighty three residents from eleven care homes across Essex were welcomed to play a huge variety of games, accessible to everyone. Highlights included the dance competition, the medal ceremony and a visit from Joe's Whippy.

Team FaNs had the privilege of working with amazing partners in the community to offer this wonderful experience to care home residents and everyone saw just how much fun the games could be, not to mention the physical and emotional benefits. How can we top that?! Please let us know your ideas by emailing

What an amazing day had by all who attended. I know the residents from the care home I work in loved it and really enjoyed the experience. They are still talking about it! Such a positive impact.

Thank you so much for organising a fun day for our care home community. Our ladies have been talking about it ever since and are all practicing for the next one!
