Braintree Bake Off Competition!

It Doesn't Matter If You Win Or Lose....There's Always Cake!

On July 5th, The New Deanery Care Home in Bocking played host to 3 other care homes across the Braintree area to compete in a wonderful 'Disney Themed' Care Home Bake Off.

This was our first event in the area following the receipt of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. Kilkee Lodge, Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court and St Mary's Court all came together in the beautiful dining room at the New Deanery to socialise, enjoy music from the fabulous JenTones and of course, eat cake!

We were delighted to welcome our guest judges, Chairman of Braintree District Council, Councillor Diana Garrod and Vice Chairman Lyn Walters along with local businessman, Phillip Poulter from the Phoenix Cafe. The judges all agreed that the standard of entries was incredibly high and there were just fractions of a point between the winner, second and third place and the runner up. But there could only be one winner, and that was the wonderful 'Tangled' entry from Kilkee Lodge. The residents from Kilkee Lodge were over the moon to be crowned winners! But everyone had a fabulous day, winners or not.
